Preamble
The right of self-government is a sovereign right, inalienable
and indestructible. It is the life of this organization and rightly
belongs to its members. Neither the officers nor any committees
established by this Constitution shall ever have the authority
to irrevocably limit or restrain this right. All acts pertaining
thereto shall be and are hereby declared to be null and void. The
rights of governing this Association shall always be under the
complete control of and revocable only by its duly constituted
voting members.
Objective
The objective of The Georgia Association of Tax Officials shall
be to improve the standards of tax administrative practices, to
provide a clearinghouse for the distribution of useful information
relating to tax administrative practices, to educate the taxpaying
public on the true nature and importance of the work performed
by tax officials, and to engage in research and publish the results
of studies, to elevate the standards of personnel requirements
in tax offices, to cooperate with other public and private agencies
interested in improving tax administration, and in every proper
and legal way to promote justice and equity in the distribution
of the tax burden.
